Georgia operator exam preparation

Source check: 2026-10-04. Shared WPI courses are linked only where the standardized exam and class match are confirmed. Local grades may not equal WPI class numbers. Your authority's current documents control.

Water Treatment

Shared WPI prep for confirmed exams only

Program authority: Georgia Board of Examiners for Certification of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators and Laboratory Analysts

Local levels: Public Water Supply System Operator: Class I, II, III, IIIG, or IV.

Partial standardized routing is supported: Georgia Class III → WPI Water Treatment Class I; Georgia Class II → WPI Class III; Georgia Class I → WPI Class IV. These mappings come from the Board's exam-content links matching WPI's explicitly standardized directory, not matching Roman numerals. Georgia Class IV instead links to Standardized Very Small Water System Operator, outside the 1–4 treatment ladder. Class IIIG has a separate GA Groundwater examination outline, but the opened document does not identify whether the exam is WPI-customized or state-authored; therefore the complete stream's exam system remains unverified.

Sources and exam scope

  • Georgia Board Rules, Chapter 750-3 - Classifications and Requirements

Rule 750-3-.03(a): 'Public Water Supply System Operator: Class I, II, III, IIIG, or IV'; Rule 750-3-.01 requires certification.

  • Georgia Board FAQ - Examination Study Guides

The Board says the linked guides describe content covered on the exam. Its Georgia Water Class III, II and I links are respectively /download/1161/, /1167/ and /1170/; Class IV links to /6295/ and groundwater Class III to the separate state-hosted outline.

  • WPI Historical Need-to-Know Criteria

Explicitly lists /1161/, /1167/ and /1170/ as 2019 Standardized Water Treatment Classes I, III and IV respectively; /6295/ is Standardized Very Small Water System Operator.

  • Exam Specifications Document - GA Groundwater

Separate examination content outline covers source-water characteristics, treatment, distribution components, equipment, laboratory analysis, and security/safety/compliance/administration. It does not identify standardized status or exam authorship.

Wastewater Treatment

Shared WPI prep for confirmed exams only

Program authority: Georgia Board of Examiners for Certification of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators and Laboratory Analysts

Local levels: Biological Wastewater Treatment System Operator: Class I, II, III or IV; Industrial Wastewater Treatment System Operator (unnumbered).

Georgia biological Class III → ABC/WPI standardized Wastewater Treatment Class I is verified through the Board's exact link and the opened outline. Georgia biological Class IV links to Standardized Small Wastewater System Operator, not treatment Class IV. The industrial certificate links to Standardized Physical Chemical Industrial Waste Treatment Operator, a separate specialty. Georgia biological Classes I and II have Board-linked outlines, but their standardized scope and WPI class correspondence were not verified within the source-open cap; do not infer them from the drinking-water crosswalk. Full-stream routing remains unverified.

Water Distribution

Shared WPI prep

Program authority: Georgia Board of Examiners for Certification of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators and Laboratory Analysts

Local levels: Water Distribution System Operator (one unnumbered certification).

The Board's Water Distribution System Operator exam-content link matches WPI's explicitly standardized Water Distribution Class I outline. Do not create Georgia distribution Classes II–IV: the official classifications list only the unnumbered certificate. Mandatory Board certification, not a voluntary association ladder.

Wastewater Collection

Shared WPI prep

Program authority: Georgia Board of Examiners for Certification of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators and Laboratory Analysts

Local levels: Wastewater Collection System Operator (one unnumbered certification).

The Board's collection exam-content link matches WPI's explicitly standardized Wastewater Collection Class I outline. Do not extend this to WPI Classes II–IV or invent a Georgia numbered collection ladder. Mandatory Board certification, not voluntary certification.

Dedicated course research

Dedicated prep is not available or being sold yet.

  • Separate Georgia Class IIIG groundwater route using the state-hosted GA Groundwater outline: wells/source protection, treatment/disinfection, distribution, maintenance, laboratory work and compliance. Exam provenance still requires confirmation; do not label it WPI-customized or state-authored without evidence.
  • Separate Georgia water Class IV Very Small Water System and biological wastewater Class IV Small Wastewater System preparation; neither is equivalent to the generic WPI treatment Class IV course.
  • If industrial wastewater is included, provide a distinct unnumbered Industrial Wastewater Treatment System Operator route tied to its physical/chemical industrial outline rather than the biological treatment ladder.
  • Apply Georgia's actual class crosswalk and local certification requirements. Board-approved coursework requirements are water IV 6 hours, III 40 hours, IIIG 40 groundwater hours, II 48 advanced hours; biological wastewater IV 6 hours of waste-stabilization-pond instruction, III 40 hours, II 48 advanced hours; distribution, collection and industrial wastewater each 27 hours. Exam preparation is not automatically Board-approved prerequisite training.
  • Resolve biological wastewater Classes I and II before shared-course routing; no exact standardized class mapping for those branches was verified in this acquisition.

What still needs confirmation

  • As-of target: October 3, 2026. Live sources were accessed October 4, 2026; they are not archived snapshots proving their wording on the cutoff date.
  • Eight source opens used. No snippets were used as evidence. Standardized findings use the Board's specific exam-content links cross-referenced to explicitly standardized WPI titles; generic ABC content, membership, reciprocity and PSI delivery were not treated as proof.
  • verifiedSharedLevels contains WPI standardized class numbers, not Georgia class numbers. Specialty small-system and industrial exams are outside this 1–4 field.
  • The opened Board exam page designates PSI for water and wastewater testing but does not itself establish standardized exam status: https://sos.ga.gov/page/georgia-board-examiners-certification-water-wastewater-treatment-plant-operators-and-1 .
  • Do not silently substitute 2025 standardized outlines: the Board-linked profiles were matched to their actual titles, including the historical standardized directory; adoption of newer forms was not verified.
  • The September 21, 2026 notice for Rule 750-3-.04 proposes eligibility changes, with a hearing October 21, 2026; it was not treated as an adopted rule at the cutoff: https://sos.ga.gov/sites/default/files/forms/R%20750-3-.04-Revised%20NOH_2-signed.pdf .
